I hope everyone’s week is going splendidly. I know mine has been busy and passing quickly. I’ve been working on some new art pieces as well as a friend’s wedding gown I’m custom making. I’m going to start a section on this blog devoted to my art and design work, and I figure I’ll probably post about once or twice a week on those things. I didn’t get to post nearly as much this week as I wanted to. Kristen and I had our yearly walkthrough of the house last week and so all of the repairs were scheduled and happening this week. Lots of people working in the house = not a lot of free time to take photos. Also we’ve been having some crappy rainy/cloudy weather so just all in all not the best week for me to do fashion shoots. I’m hoping this weekend I can get some photoshoot time in as well as some spring cleaning! My garage is on my to-do list as well as my closet….yaaaaay. Haha! It needs to happen. Other than that this weekend I’m volunteering Saturday morning at one of the community gardens here in Charlotte and then hopefully going to VegFest! It’s a vegan festival that happens every year. Tons of vendors, good food, and just all around yumminess. I hope to be able to bring my camera and blog the event. Today I wanted to talk to you guys about some of my absolute favorite lip products from the brand Pacifica. They are a 100% Vegan and Cruelty Free brand that makes makeup, skincare, body, and hair care. They have a bit of a presence all over the place, but I know that here in Charlotte you can get their products at Ulta, Earthfare, and Target. Be warned though, not every store has a full stock of makeup as well as body care and hair care, so you may have to do some searching for the things you want. Earthfare here in CLT has a pretty big display, so for these lippies that I’m discussing today, I’d head over there or just get them online.
Two of my favorite, I use them daily, can’t live without it lip products are the Color Quench Lip Tint balms and the Enlightened Gloss from Pacifica. They are both also insanely affordable as well at $5.00 and $10.00 each, respectively. Both products are extremely wearable, perform well, and make your lips feel moisturized and nourished.
The Enlightened Glosses come in 5 shades; of which I have 3. From top to bottom on the arm swatch is Opal, Ravish, and Beach Kiss. I got these because they are colors I wear super often, and each one had an iridescent shine that I absolutely loved. The formula is shiny, not sticky, and lasts quite a while. I feel with any lip gloss product you tend to need to reapply if you eat or drink and with these it’s no exception. Because the color is mineral based, the pigmentation isn’t SUPER powerful, but I actually really enjoy that about this product. I wear these as a topper over lipstick, so I don’t need the product to be highly pigmented on it’s own. Beach Kiss, the pink/nude shade is probably my favorite of the three I have, just because it looks so great with many of the lipsticks I have and wear frequently. It also has quite a lot of glitter in it and picks up the light really well when you’re wearing it. These are petroleum free glosses as well as paraben free. Many traditional lip glosses tend to contain these harmful ingredients, so I love that Pacifica keeps these ingredients out of their products. As always, the glosses are 100% Vegan and cruelty-free as well. They are also infused with Coconut antioxidants to nourish your lips as you’re wearing them. I feel this is really important as lip care isn’t usually a part of someone’s traditional skincare routine. At least for me, I don’t think as much about it as I do the rest of my face. So having products like this one that contain nourishing ingredients is great for me, because I feel that I’m giving my lips nutrients and taking care of them while they also just look great!
In the photo shown, I have on Beach Kiss gloss over the pink lip crayon I’m wearing. I love how natural it looks and just how well it compliments the pink lipstick.
The Color Quench Lip Tints are also one of my daily use products from Pacifica. As you can see from the arm swatch, these are incredibly lightly pigmented, and more than anything offer shine and moisture to the lips. I think these make an awesome product to keep in your purse for day to day touch ups, and I use them just on a daily basis. Because I work at home on my blog, art, and fashion design, usually I am pretty bare faced. These make a great product to put on if I want to run to the store, or go see a friend during the day, but not necessarily have to put on a full face of makeup. I have all 5 shades, and I think the one I wear most is the Coconut Nectar, which is the bottom swatch on my arm. It is a brown/nude shade and I think it’s great for just adding a little shine to the lips. Again, like the gloss they have a coconut scent, which I absolutely love. Coconut has got to be my absolute favorite smell/flavor ever! Who else loves Coconut as much as I do?? These lip balms are packed with coconut and avocado oils for superior hydration to the lips as well as in 100% recyclable tubes. Love having beauty products that can be recycled after I’ve used them up! This is a big one for me..learning how much plastic is really littering the Earth and oceans is absolutely devastating. The statistic is that by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish if we keep up our current usage and disposable habits. One big thing that you can do in your life is work to limit the amount of disposable plastic you use every day i.e. cups, straws, to-go containers, etc. but things like beauty products are on my list as well. I’d love to do as much as possible to find companies that package products in glass containers or fully recyclable ones like these lip balms. Many of us don’t realize that even though we may put an item in the recycling bin, if the state or county doesn’t recognize the type of plastic it is, it gets sent to landfill anyway. Isn’t that terrible? So, I love that Pacifica has made an effort to make products in fully recyclable packaging. Also, Pacifica donates a portion of proceeds to support clean water initiatives, and most of their products are packaged in cardboard with the exception of their body/hair care products which are in tubes or bottles.
I keep seashells and amethyst stones on my vanity to remind me of my spirit center. I’m a Cancer; my birthday is June 25, so I am very attuned to the power of the rhythmic ocean and it’s natural beauty. Keeping nature close to me, and close to my heart is very important to me. I don’t live near the ocean, but I try to visit it as often as possible, but even more than that, I try to spend some time outside every single day. It keeps me grounded. I love gardening, and having a patio garden has been a big source of pleasure for me recently. Amethyst is seen as the stone of the spirit and spirituality, so many believe that keeping it close to you will help cleanse your spiritual energy. Although I love makeup and beauty, I like to remind myself every day that true beauty comes from within. Yes, it is important to take care of ourselves and feel our best, but if you feel good on the inside, you will also feel good on the outside. I try to do something every single day to grow my spirit center, whether that is journalling, making art, or reading a book. I find these things keep me close to the core of who I am as a person, and what makes me truly happy inside and out. But, when it come’s to makeup, I love using brands like Pacifica that take account not only for the product performing well, but their ethics as a company too. I feel good using a product that is clean of harmful ingredients, isn’t tested on animals, and is made with love. That makes me truly happy to share with you.
*Please note I purchased all of these products myself and as always, all opinions are my own*
